Working From Home: Suzanne’s Diary

THIS WEEK’S WORKING FROM HOME DIARY IS BROUGHT TO YOU BY SUZANNE, OUR BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER!

Each week we’re asking a member of the team to provide us with their WFH diary to give you an idea of what we’re all up to whilst at home!

Suzanne’s Diary ✏

7AM
I get a lie in these days, it’s normally 6am)!  Up, showered, make up on, hair washed & dried and then time to decide which ‘Lockdown Wear’ (as I am calling it!) outfit it is for today. I miss my work dresses and heels, so I’m keeping to a routine, no working in pyjamas for me!

I can’t say I’m missing my train commute, its straight down the stairs to the dining room table these days – I’ve surprised myself how I have adapted to the working from home situation.

9AM
I spend the first part of the morning checking emails, social channels etc. After the initial moving of dates for conferences there are still enquiries to work on for 2021 and beyond.

11AM
Monday’s and Wednesday’s we have a full team meeting to keep in touch with everyone and what we are working on.

This week, as I can’t be in Frankfurt attending IMEX, I am attending the virtual version they have quickly managed to arrange – Planet IMEX. This includes attending sessions, learning and networking via Zoom. Although we are all missing the face to face networking that our industry so enjoys, it’s a great alternative. The week started with Edu Monday and sessions included ‘Going Online’ from the Meeting Design Institute and ‘The Big Pivot: Towards a regenerative events industry’.

12.30PM
I’m making sure I take a lunch break each day, a luxury most days when you are in the office as some days you just don’t get chance! As the weather has been so lovely I take the opportunity to go for a walk for my daily exercise or sit and read in the sun for a break from screen time.

Each day I have been keeping in touch with our Marketing Liverpool partners, checking that their teams are safe and well. I’ve had many positive conversations and it’s lovely to see and hear familiar faces and voices.

You can read my top tips for keeping in touch here.

1.30PM
In the afternoon I usually find myself attending one of the many industry webinars that are taking place! I’ve been as busy as I would have been in the office.

4PM
Afternoons are finished with a Liverpool Convention Bureau team catch up – it’s very rare that we are all in the same country or room at any given time so a Zoom/ WhatsApp call when we are all on the same screen has been great! We have a lovely catch up about our day and just a little chit chat about everything.

I’m missing my networking events so have been spending my evenings catching up with calls to friends and relatives. I have really got back into my reading so I’m working through the pile I have, or if I haven’t got out in the day I am taking myself off on a walk keeping my legs stretched (I usually do at least 15,000 steps a day walking between meetings). With my music for company, I am so lucky that within a few minutes walk from my house I am in such lovely countryside, you can clear your mind and forget everything that is going on for a while. The other evening I went a bit later, it was nearly dark when I got back home. I felt like I had had a night out!
